The annual Anglican Catholic Future festival will take place from 10am on Saturday 24 September 2016 at St James’s Sussex Gardens: the Parish Church of Paddington. We are grateful to Fr Paul Thomas and the PCC of St James’s for the use of the Church for the celebration.
This year our focus is on ‘Scripture and…’, with a view to delving into ways in which Holy Scripture nourishes us as Christians and how Scripture roots and enlivens us as missional and committed Catholics. Topics covered and discussed will include ‘Scripture and the Parish’, ‘Scripture and the Church’, ‘Scripture and prayer’ amongst others.
Join us as we welcome a rich variety of speakers and especially as we look forward to the visit of Bishop Rowan Williams, who will deliver our keynote address entitled ‘Scripture and the Catholic Vision for Anglicanism’. Bishop Rowan who is currently Master of Magdalene College in Cambridge will preside at our Solemn Mass.
The preacher at the Mass will be Sr Helen Costigane, SHCJ, who currently teaches and researches in Heythrop College. She is also currently the Academic Vice Principal there.
To end the day, we will sing Evensong and Pontifical Benediction. Benediction will be given by the Bishop of Fulham, the Rt Revd Jonathan Baker.
The music during worship will be provided by the choir of St Peter’s Great Berkhamsted in the Diocese of St Albans, with their music director Adrian Davis.
